A random reel or tiktok made me feel a sudden urge to watch this series and I'm glad that I finally finished this. It didn't hit my expectations on this but i'm glad it turned to be the best series I've watched recently. I love the story on this one. I enjoyed the journey of Cam throughout boot camp. A lot of moral lessons to get from this one. I want to salute the brotherhood of the recruits. It reminded me of The Long Walk which I also adore. I love how diverse the characters are which made them very memorable. They have different personalities and I'm glad that they complement each other. The drill instructors were so intense but I'm glad they gave us a glimpse of their life outside their uniforms. Even with bad personalities, I loved all the characters on this series. Ray is the most, down-to-earth, the best guy in the world. I want him so badly. No explanation required. Ochoa was also one of my favorites. He's genuine, kind, and lovable person. He deserves the joy on this world. Sullivan is also a core memory. His character was the most complex but his words of wisdom will always be the best. Overall, this series scratch my heart in ways I couldn't understand. I love it so much I can't find the reason to hate this. This goes to my collection comfort movies/series because watching this feels like hugging a teddy bear.

This is a story set in 1990 about a closeted gay guy who agrees to join the Marines with his straight best friend, and yes the friend knows that he's gay. To be honest, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. They were able to weave in a lot of human elements against the boot camp training and by the time the series ended, you started to really feel for some of the characters. That being said, this is not a 'gay' story, this is a military/boot camp story where one of the main characters is actually gay, and for most of the series that wasn't a focal point of the story. I actually thought the straight best friend was a more layered character and wished that they had done more with him, I actually found his story more interesting. It is worth watching and you do get a good story, but really it's focus is on military training and them screaming at each other, but if you can get past that it is interesting.
